چکیده

We correct for endogeneity bias in fixed-effects estimates of workerand firmspecific earnings heterogeneity using longitudinal linked employer-employee data. Realized job assignments may be determined by unobservable components of earnings. We exploit the relational structure of the data to model the evolution of the matched data as an evolving bipartite graph in a Bayesian latent class framework. We estimate the model using data from the LEHD infrastructure file system of the U.S. Census Bureau. Our results suggest that the correction for endogeneity is meaningful but does not overturn the qualitative findings from previous analyses that assumed mobility to be exogenous. Modeling Endogenous Mobility in Wage Determination

We evaluate the bias from endogenous job mobility in fixed-effects estimates of workerand firm-specific earnings heterogeneity using longitudinally linked employer-employee data from the LEHD infrastructure file system of the U.S. Census Bureau. First, we propose two new residual diagnostic tests of the assumption that mobility is exogenous to unmodeled determinants of earnings. Both tests reje...

Distribution and growth in models of imperfect capital markets

This paper reviews recent attempts to explain the generation of ‘social mobility and inequality in a market economy. It also discusses the interaction of mobility and the distribution of wealth with the process of capital accumulation. Any attempt at explaining intergenerational mobility as well as the endogenous generation of inequality must include uncertainty in individual incomes. This basi...

CEP Discussion Paper No 1140 April 2012 Goods Trade , Factor Mobility and Welfare Stephen

This paper extends a recent class of quantitative models of international trade to incorporate factor mobility within countries. We present a model-based decomposition of the variance of economic activity into the contributions of locational fundamentals, market access and their covariance. We show how the standard framework for undertaking model-based counterfactuals in trade can be augmented ...

Altered gel electrophoretic mobility of bleomycin-mediated release of nucleosomal DNA.

Nucleosomal DNA isolated from bleomycin-treated nuclei shows retarded electrophoretic mobility in neutral gels as compared with the sample isolated from micrococcal (or endogenous) nuclease-digested nuclei. The retardation in electrophoretic mobility is probably due to the presence of single-strand regions in the DNA duplex of bleomycin-treated samples as determined by single-strand-specific S1...

Endogenous Technological Progress and Spatial Interdependence

This paper explores growth models for regions or countries which are highly interdependent, but which may differ in initial factor endowments and technology. The regions interact through trade, factor mobility and the diffusion of innovations. The implications of traditional and recent growth theories for an explicit two-region situation are identified and the properties of the growth process a...

High-Mobility Group Nucleosome-Binding Protein 1 as Endogenous Ligand Induces Innate Immune Tolerance in a TLR4-Sirtuin-1 Dependent Manner in Human Blood Peripheral Mononuclear Cells

High-mobility group nucleosome-binding protein 1 (HMGN1) functions as a non-histone chromatin-binding protein in the cell nucleus. However, extracellular HMGN1 acts as an endogenous danger-associated inflammatory mediator (also called alarmin). We demonstrated that HMGN1 not only directly stimulated cytokine production but also had the capacity to induce immune tolerance by a TLR4-dependent pat...
